High-Risk Infant Follow-up: Current Practice and Factors Determining Eligibility

A recent study surveyed providers worldwide and found wide variability in how high-risk infants—especially those with neurological conditions—are identified and enrolled in follow-up care. To bridge these gaps, Phoenix Children’s Newborn Early Screening Team (NEST) Clinic provides the extra support that babies need after they “graduate” from neonatal intensive care. This ensures continuity from fetal diagnosis through early childhood, optimizing long-term outcomes for these vulnerable patients.
