Novel Risk Score to Guide Evaluation of Acute Hematogenous Osteomyelitis in Children

Claudia Yeung, MD et al., conducted a retrospective matched case-control study to identify independent predictors of acute hematogenous osteomyelitis (AHO) in children. Of 1,135 cases of AHO matched to controls, multivariable logistic regression identified 10 predictors of AHO for a suspected musculoskeletal infection. Authors derived a novel 4-point risk score to guide clinical decision-making.
