IPSO Hemorrhagic Stroke Guidelines
The International Pediatric Stroke Organization (IPSO) Hemorrhagic Stroke Guidelines have now been published, featuring contributions from Janette Mailo, MD , of Phoenix Children’s. These comprehensive, consensus-based guidelines represent a major advancement in the standardized care of children with intracerebral hemorrhage.
The publication includes two guideline statements and an accompanying editorial, collectively addressing the full continuum of pediatric intracerebral hemorrhage care—from acute management through long-term outcomes:
- Pediatric Intracerebral Hemorrhage Management—Consensus Statement of the International Pediatric Stroke Organization, Part 1: Acute Phase and Workup
- Focuses on early recognition, acute clinical management, diagnostic evaluation and immediate decision-making in pediatric intracerebral hemorrhage.
- Pediatric Intracerebral Hemorrhage Management—Consensus Statement of the International Pediatric Stroke Organization, Part 2: Outcomes, Rehabilitation, and Transition to Adulthood
- Addresses recovery trajectories, rehabilitation strategies, long-term outcomes and the critical transition from pediatric to adult care.
- Code ICH: Building Consensus in Pediatric Intracerebral Hemorrhage (Editorial)
- Provides context on the collaborative effort behind the guidelines and underscores the importance of global consensus in improving care for this rare but high-impact condition.
